Oklahoma Runner of the Year Nominations Now Open!

The time is now! Each December, Oklahoma Runner & Triathlete selects a male and female Runner of the Year. The winners are featured on the cover of the March/April issue of the magazine, along with a story about their accomplishments for the previous year.

Just like every year, Oklahoma Runner & Triathlete has decided to let you, our readers, nominate runners for this honor.
Please consider the following list of criteria when making your nomination:

1. Participation - This weighs heavier than any other item as long as the runner is a frequent winner. Participation means traveling the state to run various distances against all classes of runners. Running out-of-state races is also a factor.
2. Winning - Consider how many times the runner has won a race or placed in the top of his or her age group. Past Runner of the Year winners have been frequent winners of his/her age group and/or the Open division.
3. Winning Big Events - This may be a factor depending on the quality of the event (i.e., if the nominee won the Boston Marathon, this would definitely be worth considering).
4. Competition/Quality of Races - Past winners have faced stiff competition in local and out-of-state-races and won.
5. Distances - Past winners have excelled at competitions of different distances, from ultras to marathons to 5 km, 8 km and 10 km races.

Please consider seriously who you nominate. From this list of nominees we will select those individuals who best exemplify the above criteria and submit their names to a group of knowledgeable individuals from across the state. Members of that group will vote for his/her top three runners on a 3-2-1 basis. The runner with the most points, male and female, wins.
